The PHA-01 – Replacement for Vans Flap Motor

This is the definitive replacement for the OEM flap motor in most RVs. It is the exact length of the OEM motor and has the same 5" stroke. What is different is that it stops automatically at both ends of the stroke, whereas the OEM motor keeps running unless shut off by a switch.

It is a drop-in replacement for the flap motor in the RV-8. You can bolt it to the existing flap mechanism using the existing hardware. See the video of its operation in an RV-8. Note that the hole in the armrest must be enlarged as shown.

The PHA-01 is also a direct replacement for the OEM flap motors in RV-6, -7, and -9s. It will require modifying the brackets in the flap channel as shown in the photos. An optional bracket kit is also available to facilitate the installation. No further modification is necessary, no flap re-rigging or adjustment required.

If your existing installation uses a POS-12 for position sensing, it will work just fine with the PHA-01. Or a POS-12 can be added if you need a flap indicator in the cockpit, or if you choose to install a flap positioner system.

This is a very robust unit that will give you dependable service for the life of your airplane. No more migrating grease issues, no more service bulletins that require safety wiring the rod end bearing.
